JURIED AMATEUR PHOTO CONTEST - Entry Closed -
PHOTO PICKUP
Please pick up at Blaine’s Art, 1025 Photo Ave. in Anchorage starting Monday, March 19, 2012. Prints not claimed by Saturday, March 31, 2012 will be discarded.
PHOTO SELECTION
All entries MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN ALASKA after January 1, 2011. Entries from
previous Fur Rondy Photo Contests are NOT eligible.
PHOTO EXHIBITION
Judges will select the winning and for display photos on Wed., Feb. 15, 2012 to be exhibited in the Mall at Sears during the Fur Rendezvous, February 24-March 4, 2012. Due to the high volume of quality entries, a maximum of 250 photos will be on display.
PHOTO PREPARATION
Please follow the rules for preparation as outlined below.
- Photos must be suitable for viewing by general audiences.
- Entries are limited to five prints of color and five prints of black & white. (max. 10 entries per person)
- Attach completed entry form to the back of each photo entry.
- Photocopies of entry form are acceptable.
- Photo size must be a single photo 8”x10” or larger.
- Each entry must be mounted on a 16”x20” white foamcore board for display. This rule makes the overall contest display uniform. No framed, matted or glass covered photos will be accepted.
- We highly recommend that all photos be shrink-wrapped for their protection. Both foam core mounting and shrink wrapping are available at Blaines Art
- NEW FOR 2012: NO names, titles or any identifying marks on the front of the mount.
- Please place an arrow pointed upward on the back of the print to identify the direction for hanging the print.
- Photo entries not following the above guidelines will be disqualified.
- Photographers are encouraged to obtain consent if their photographs depict individuals, especially if the photograph depicts something of a private nature or something unique to the person (notoriety, costume,etc.) that contributes significantly to the overall photograph. If you have written consent, please attach it to your entry blank.
PHOTO SUBMISSION
Entries will be accepted:
Monday, January 23, 2012 through Sunday, February 5, 2012
Entries need to be turned in to Blaines Art 1025 Photo Ave. in Anchorage (Between Spenard Rd.. And Arctic Blvd. off Benson Blvd.) 907-561-5344
Entry Fee: $10 per photo entry or $7.50 when paid by credit card online. Entry fee or receipt for online payment, must accompany each entry. If paying with a check or money order, make it payable to: Mall Merchants Association. A single check or credit card payment may be made to cover multiple entries. NO CASH PLEASE!
Any entry received after 5:00 PM on February 5, 2012 will not be accepted.
Entries not adhering to the rules in all aspects will not be judged for awards.
Entry fees will not be returned if photo is disqualified.
PRIZES
Best in Show Winners receive: Ribbon, Plaque, $50 gift card from SEARS, Print framing discount from
Blaine’s Art (up to $100) and 1 gallon re-fillable popcorn tin with their choice of flavor from Alaska
Corn Co. Ribbons will be awarded for each division and category, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places and one
Honorable Mention.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PHOTOS
No persons affiliated with the Mall at Sears or this photo contest will be responsible for lost or damaged
photographs. Due to the necessary hanging techniques (Velcro is attached to the backs of the foam core board), some damage may occur to the backs of core board.
DEFINITION OF AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER
For contest purposes, an amateur photographer is a person that earns less than 5 percent of his/her income as a photographer. In the case of a dispute, the final decision rests with the judges and Carr
Gottstein Properties.
ECONOMIC EXPLOITATION of photographs will not be permitted.
